VŠE Representative Ball 2023

During last night’s event, you could step back in time with us to the 1920s and experience one of the incredible parties on Long Island like in The Great Gatsby. We once again hosted the VŠE Representation Ball in the beautiful rooms of the Lucerna Palace. But this year’s edition was far more magical. Not only was it one of the biggest balls in the Europe, but it was also a ball organized to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Prague University of Economics and Business.

The whole evening was opened with a speech by Rector Petr Dvořák, who arrived at the ball together with his wife. Then you could be enchanted by the famous melody “Pirates of the Caribbean”, performed by the VŠE orchestra.

In the first half of the VŠE Ball, the winners of both the Student Athlete of VŠE poll and the Athlete of VŠE category were announced. The absolute winner was David Schweiner, the current beach volleyball world champion. Gabriela Satková (canoeing) and Eliška Hálová (basketball) came second and third.

During the evening you could also meet the winners of this year’s VŠE Talent. The first place went to Augustin Kužela, who played and sang the song “Unchained Melody” by Elvis Presley. In an honorable second place was Robin Curtis with his daring acrobatic show, followed by Fernando Hérnandez who sang the song “When I Was Your Man” by Bruno Mars. Other talents of last night were singer Alica Urcikánová, who took 4th place, and Latin dancer Ondřej Vokurka, who together with his dance partner Eliška Hřebíčková took 5th place.

The whole evening was accompanied by Vladislav Brož’s Big Band and right at midnight, thanks to the help of the Rector, you could see the Midnight Surprise prepared by VŠE CREW.

You could really enjoy a fantastic evening full of music, dance and entertainment, both on the floor of the Great Hall and in the Lucerna Music Bar. Not only the lovers of ballroom dancing, but also those of you who were more looking forward to the after party. The restaurant in Lucerna was also open for you to grab a bite to eat.

The first part of the photos from the ball can be found now on this link.

We hope that you enjoyed yesterday’s wild twenties with us and we look forward to seeing you again next year.
